How is your front end holding up from the jumps? I've been 
tempted to try it in mine but scared I'd break a spindle off with

hi every one yes i'm a 4-runner fanatic and own two 4-runners 
both of them are 1988 ,one of them is a SR5 and mint condition the 
other is a bit modifide and will go though just about anything.It 
sports a M.S.D. ing. 33x12.50 and 3" of lift its been to the Nicolet 
National Forest/pipe line trailes and did pritty good.

At 170,000 miles my 4-runner will play as hard as it works.
A V-8 conversion is in the works, but I'm heading for 250,000
first. After a number of american made 4-wheel drives, this
is one tough truck. I thank toyota for so many hard miles

I have a 1985 4runner with 203,000 mi. Still
looks great and runs great too! This is by far the
best vehicle I have ever owned.

That is a really good web site that you
have Scott, keep up the good work. I own an
'87 4Runner, 22RE, 5 speed. Current mods
include 30" mud track tires on stock rims,
raised breathers, K&N filter, 2x Dick Cepek
"Baja Laser" lights, air horns, an in dash
CB radio, Alpine deck,speakers,and
amplifiers, and a bunch of tools and recovery
gear (mainly used for un-stucking my friends
Jeep, HA-HA!). Things to come include: 2"
body lift, Downey economy IFS kit, Headers,
Snorkel, and a locked up rear. If any one is
interested in a 4Runner trailride in
July/August this summer, contact me. The
trail ride will likely be up at Five Points
recreation area, near Bobcaygeon (the same
place that the jeep jamboree takes place). 
Cost will be FREE, trying to limit it to @ 
15 trucks, nice and informal. See you on 
the trails.

in the front end at highway speeds. The
faster I go the more vibration. The
wheel balance has been checked and is
O.K. I also had the front wheel bearings
repacked. Can you give me some advice on

own IFS Runner's potential.  Realizing that my
truck isn't an outcast, I now feel secure enough
to play in any Runner games=). (oh boy, that was
stupid)

  I'm just starting out, wheeling in my '88 that
looks just like Scott's(without all the mods)
and learned a few things from his site and even
confirmed a few ideas I came up with. I'll be

You sure updated your web page quickly.  You must have

gotten on your computer before your 4Runner had a

chance to cool down.  This is Bob Goya with the

85 Burgundy 4Runner.  Thought I would let you know that

I picked up a few scratches (during the Jamboree) that

will require some touch-up paint.  On Saturday I

thought that I had broken a front axle or locking hub.

After tearing things apart, I found that the ring and

pinion were blown out.  I guess this can be added to

the Annual Jamboree breakage tally.  I did have a

great time while trying to find my vehicle's

limitations.  If you come across someone who can redo

our style door panels, let me know.

I got an 88 4skinner myself.  4 cylinder & mostly stock.  I do enjoy taking it out in the desert for the high speed desert thrashing more than rock crawling although I go where my heart takes me.

My planned mods are to get a fiberglass front clip, inside roll cage, and a header/cam for the motor.
